Taking as its starting point the District’s theme of Crafts and Materials, The Sound of Material will explore ideas centred on craftsmanship, techniques and processes. Focusing on both traditional handwork and innovative practices, the works presented invite and encourage us to engage with them. For over 100 years, GRYTHYTTAN has combined Swedish craftsmanship with Scandinavian design. The furniture is still made by hand from wood and steel in Grythyttan, making the chairs and tables extremely weather-resistant and ensure they last decade after decade. The characteristic rocking mechanism of the chairs is created by the special spring steel frame, also requires human craftsmanship. Marset takes care of light and its various nuances and effects to improve people’s quality of life. Design is what sets Marset apart, and that’s where its vocation for good design was born: to make a product with the utmost rigour and innovation that generates a beautiful light and that can surprise, thrill and endure, that can contribute to a more sustainable world. The collection proposes designs with lighting that does not dazzle, soft, that collects and integrates into the space, whether it is indoors or outdoors. Through the language of light, the Marset collection wants to bring beauty, reveal textures, highlight spaces, and make them more liveable.
