Trained as an architect, Finn Juhl approached furniture as an artistic discipline rather than a purely functional task. His work challenged established ideas of construction and use, introducing sculptural forms and a clear sense of proportion that helped shape Danish modernism. For more than two decades, House of Finn Juhl has held the exclusive rights to revive and produce Finn Juhl’s furniture designs, working to preserve the intent and principles behind his work—an approach that continues to resonate across generations.
House of Finn Juhl presents an exhibition grounded in Finn Juhl’s words: “The deviation is in the detail." Reflecting his sculptural and poetic approach, the installation unfolds as a dialogue between heritage and contemporary interpretation. Exhibition curation by Mentze Ottenstein. Spatial compositions frame selected pieces alongside artistic references integral to Finn Juhl's thinking. In collaboration with SEA New York, embroidered textiles developed with Kjellerup Væveri introduce a layer of ornamentation, offering a new perspective on Finn Juhl’s furniture. Brick plinths and cherry wood screens echo his architectural language, shaping a quiet, immersive setting in which past and present meet.
