At their workshop on Portugal's Silver Coast, De La Espada combines artisanal furniture making savoir faire with rigorous, research–based contemporary design. Their portfolio of iconic and timeless pieces includes designs by their in–house studio, De La Espada Atelier, and by great figures in the world of international design. Specialising in woodworking and upholstery, they also collaborate with Portuguese artisans across disciplines. De La Espada sits at the heart of design and craft in Portugal and represents true luxury: creativity rather than imitation; extensive research and development; traditional methods that are in scarce supply; a singular aesthetic point–of–view; and no compromise when it comes to materials or effort.
Garde Hvalsøe and De La Espada unite for 3daysofdesign for the third year, expressing their shared values in Tempus, an exhibition curated by Pernille Vest. Tempus invites visitors into a design universe where materials, craft, and longevity take centre stage. Where time is not a threat to design, but the proof of it. Embracing the enduring beauty of well-made products, a ten-year-old kitchen by Garde Hvalsøe meets the latest work from the Danish workshop, and products from across the De La Espada portfolio reveal the best of Portuguese craft. The exhibition celebrates products that will outlive those who made them. Materials that age well. Construction that holds. Two brands, two countries, one understanding of what time asks of design.
