Kongens Nytorv
Kongens Nytorv is centrally located and easily accessible using the metro that hops off on the “Kings Square” or as you stroll west along Nyhavn. Facing the Square is Charlottenborg Palace and the Royal Danish Theater, where Hans Christian Andersen devoted his early ambition and is now home to the Royal Danish Ballet. Charlottenborg Palace is inhabited by The Royal Academy of Fine Arts and was set up by King Frederik V to strengthen the country through “Good Taste.” An idea we can all get behind. Be sure to catch the 3daysofdesign exhibitors that are the leading “Tastemakers” in their field while in the area. As you stroll east of the square you’ll find the colourful row houses of Nyhavn. On the “Shady” side of the canal you will pass Kunsthal Charlottenborg and on the “Sunny” side (Or “Sin” side to some) you will pass the bars and restaurants that once served the sailors when Nyhavn was Copenhagen’s Red Light District.
