Danish Art Workshops contributes to the field of art and design in Denmark by offering professionals a unique platform for artistic development and production. Across its many specially equipped workshops, professional artists and designers can apply for residency to develop ideas and produce large–scale and complex works, supported by guidance and expertise from skilled professionals. This is where much contemporary art and design takes root, and where new talents within the art and design scene are nurtured.
Selected Projects is an exhibition platform located within Denmark’s largest production residency. During 3daysofdesign, the warehouse is transformed into a showroom presenting projects developed in the workshops. The exhibited works span a wide range of expressions, materials, and levels of craftsmanship, all of the highest artistic quality and carefully selected for their originality, materiality, and sustainability. The exhibition design by Margrethe Odgaard and Rasmus Bækkel is based on hematite, a natural mineral used as a red pigment since the earliest cave paintings. From primitive markings to contemporary artistic practices, the reddish–brown mineral bears witness to humanity’s enduring urge to leave traces, create meaning, and give shape to the world.
