Thorup Copenhagen shares a love for the art of furniture and lighting making, inspiring appreciation for objects crafted with integrity and designed to endure. Since its launch in 2018, the Copenhagen–based brand has been dedicated to creating thoughtfully crafted furniture, lighting, and objects that not only emphasises durability but also serve a functional purpose in everyday life. Every element is carefully considered to foster a deeper connection to design and craftsmanship.

For this year’s 3daysofdesign, Thorup Copenhagen presents a curated exhibition at Papirøen—showcasing a love for the art of furniture and lighting making. A deep curiosity for materials and a thoughtful design process, equally as significant as the final object, are reflected in the collection and available for visitors to experience firsthand at the festival. Explore, connect, and see how each object is crafted to foster appreciation for integrity, durability, and functional purpose in design.

Kvik has been creating Danish design kitchens, baths and wardrobes at surprisingly low prices since 1983. In 2024, Kvik Living, a line of Danish design furniture, lighting and accessories that are the perfect companion to their kitchens, was launched. Kvik introduced The Sociable Kitchen® (Samtalekøkken®) in 1998 and made their mark on life in the kitchen. The philosophy behind it is simple — a space where the kitchen is the living heart of the home. Everyone has the right to a beautiful, Danish design kitchen and sustainability is for everyone. Every Kvik kitchen comes with a calculation that tells customers how much recycled wood and how many recycled plastic bottles were used to make it and the CO2e footprint of their kitchen.

Furniture ought to make room for people. That has been the philosophy since 1942, when FDB Møbler was founded, by architect Børge Mogensen. Many new designers have since entered the fold, but the foundational principles remain the same: to create beautiful, functional and exceptionally crafted furniture that makes room for everyday living at home. FDB Møbler is internationally known as a frontrunner of Danish design. It’s a story of classic pieces to be passed down from generation to generation. Regardless of whether they are talking about iconic pieces or new, innovative designs, the goal is the same: To have the veritable quality of life that was envisioned when the first pieces of furniture emerged in 1942.

Atlast éditions creates soulful, handcrafted objects that celebrate artisanal heritage and timeless craftsmanship. Founded by Sarah Rousselle, Atlast collaborates with Usukiyaki artisans in Usuki City, Japan, to produce the Gloria tableware collection—everyday objects with deep historical roots, reimagined for modern living.

Each piece is shaped using the Katauchi technique, where clay sheets are carefully pressed over hand-carved plaster moulds. This method preserves the warmth of handmade tradition, allowing for delicate details and organic variations. Finished in white gloss, soft matte, or bronze glazes, Atlast offers a refined, tactile experience, making every meal a moment of understated luxury.

The Sound of Material will explore ideas centred on craftsmanship, techniques and processes. The group exhibition will be focusing on both traditional handwork and innovative practices, the works presented invite and encourage us to engage with them. With this, the exhibition asks us to think about the transformative qualities of the materials present, the intricacy or simplicity of the techniques on display, and to appreciate of the power of the objects present in our lives. Bringing together a dynamic group of designers and makers who work with ceramics, textiles, lighting, furniture, glasswork, paper and more, the exhibition will be curated by Natalia Sánchez.
