The studio explores new design possibilities through innovative production methods and by integrating the latest lighting technologies. For 60 years, Ingo Maurer has been designing and manufacturing exceptional designer lamps that bridge the gap between everyday objects and art. The Munich–based company's internationally renowned designs can be found in the collections of some of the world's most important museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Under the creative direction of Axel Schmid, Head of Product and Project Design, the team develops iconic luminaires that combine technical precision with a playful and often ironic design approach. Ingo Maurer's products are designed to surprise and inspire. As well as creating serial luminaires, the company has also made a name for itself as a designer of public and private spaces around the world.

At their workshop on Portugal's Silver Coast, De La Espada combines artisanal furniture making savoir faire with rigorous, research–based contemporary design. Their portfolio of iconic and timeless pieces includes designs by their in–house studio, De La Espada Atelier, and by great figures in the world of international design. Specialising in woodworking and upholstery, they also collaborate with Portuguese artisans across disciplines. De La Espada sits at the heart of design and craft in Portugal and represents true luxury: creativity rather than imitation; extensive research and development; traditional methods that are in scarce supply; a singular aesthetic point–of–view; and no compromise when it comes to materials or effort.
