String Furniture is a Swedish design company that produces a number of modern classics and furniture brands. More than 95% of the furniture is made in Sweden, using renewable, recyclable or recycled materials. String has earned a place in design history thanks to the elegant simplicity and ingenious construction that can be put together in an infinite number of configurations and is just as modern as when it debuted in 1949. Pira, originally by Olle Pira in 1954, is a contemporary interpretation by Anna von Schewen and Björn Dahlström in 2023. Copenhagen based Icelandic designer Dögg Guðmundsdóttir creates nature inspired products with emotional appeal and a distinctive touch of Nordic originality. Many of her designs are based on foundational structures or pieces of art, while others form part of a collection. For this exhibition, nature is not merely an inspiration but an integral part of the essence of the works and of the installation, created in collaboration with Dýpi—an ocean paint made from calcareous algae harvested in Iceland.
