The Royal Danish Academy—Architecture, Design, Conservation strives to be an active, creative and leading actor in society by contributing to tackling the major national and global challenges of our time. The Royal Danish Academy is a research and educational institution that is drawing on a historical foundation within the fields of architecture, design and conservation. Based on a solid tradition the Royal Danish Academy constantly develops its subject areas by uniting three fields of knowledge: academic research, artistic research and professional practice, which are three different ways of discovering, inventing and creating.

Set at the harbour–side home of the Royal Danish Academy’s Institute of Design, Product & Material, Here & Now celebrates design innovation. It presents new furniture design inspired by antiquity, marking the 7–year anniversary of a collaboration between Egyptian artisan–manufacturers and Academy students. The exhibition is accompanied by an outdoor installation of experimental ceramic furniture by Academy faculty. The Academy Library hosts three related exhibitions featuring graduate process work, lighting prototypes developed with Focus Lighting, and projects from the Academy Startup Hub. Tours of the Academy’s Chair Collection run through the day, while evening DJs & bars provide a relaxed setting for professional exchange and dialogue.

Edin and Lina Kjellvertz launched Dusty Deco as a platform for curating vintage furniture, interior accessories and art. After having traveled the world and browsing flea markets for the most unique pieces, their home and storages quickly filled up to the brim with rare designs. Ten years later, Edin and Lina began drafting a new chapter in the brand’s history when closing the doors to its vintage business, instead launching their own collection of furniture, rugs and details. Today, Dusty Deco is a contemporary design brand, creating pieces with just as much storytelling, originality and passion for craftsmanship as the vintage finds that originally inspired the couple to start their company.

BEFORE VINTAGE FURNITURE is a Japanese furniture brand based in Hokkaido, Japan, creating furniture from valuable wood that has lost its place in the market due to irregular grain, color variations, or other characteristics often overlooked by conventional standards. Through traditional Japanese joinery, architectural thinking, and careful craftsmanship, these materials are given a new purpose and a longer future. Each piece is individually numbered, reflecting the belief that furniture gains character and value as it ages alongside its owner. By embracing the unique qualities of every piece of wood, BEFORE VINTAGE FURNITURE created furniture designed not only for today, but to become the vintage pieces of tomorrow.
