Since its foundation in 1911, the family–owned company Fredericia has proudly built a strong tradition of beautiful craftsmanship and innovative design, developed in close collaboration with a circle of internationally recognised names. Legendary designers such as Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner, Mogens Koch and Nanna Ditzel, as well as contemporary figures like Barber Osgerby, Jasper Morrison, Cecilie Manz, and Maria Bruun, all play a role in shaping Fredericia into the design and craftsmanship institution it is today. Fredericia is a proud B Corp taking part in a global movement where people use business as a force for good—a holistic certification for social and environmental impact, transparency, and accountability.

Intersections explores these connections—where objects and furniture shape daily rituals, and materials pave the future, demonstrating how thoughtful design enhances everyday life. A–POC, the acronym of “A Piece Of Cloth”, is the name of the integrated design and manufacturing system first introduced in Paris by Issey Miyake in 1998. A–POC revolutionised the process of clothes–making with its innovative concept of a streamlined, all–in–one operation, in which all the parts of the clothing are pre–woven into a single piece of cloth. Launched in 2021, A–POC ABLE ISSEY MIYAKE aims to realise the infinite potential of the A–POC system with society in mind—hence the name “ABLE”. The brand’s designer Yoshiyuki Miyamae and his team of engineers value the dialogue between creator and wearer, as they engage with different professions and industries to further explore new possibilities in design and making.

Koukos de Lab is a material–driven design studio based in Lesvos, Greece, exploring sustainable design through research, experimentation, and local production. The studio develops innovative materials and objects by transforming agricultural by–products into meaningful design resources. At the core of its practice is Koukoutsi, an eco–material made from the final waste of olive oil production, primarily olive cores and pips. Designed as a sustainable alternative to conventional materials, Koukoutsi combines durability, water resistance, and a distinctive tactile quality. Suitable for objects, furniture, and surface applications, it reflects Koukos de Lab’s commitment to circular design and responsible material transformation today, locally.

Fucina Frammenti is a sustainable brand with an online shop focused on contemporary designs that prioritise material analysis and production processes. The brand aims to find new uses for Noble Waste—processed or semi–finished results—derived from the production cycles of other companies. This waste is repurposed through thoughtful design, creating new products with minimal energy expenditure while adhering to principles of disassemblability and monomateriality. This formula, called Noble Waste Mix, embodies a circular production–consumption–reuse model. Fucina Frammenti continually refines its practices through research, experimentation, and exploration of new materials, resulting in a constantly evolving product catalog.

Lokal is a Helsinki–based concept gallery bringing forth local artwork and collectible design. Inspired by a blend of artistic expression and craftsmanship, Lokal embraces sustainability and small–scale production. Fostering a supportive creative community rooted in heritage and a close relationship to nature is at the core of their activity. Lokal’s curated exhibitions can be viewed both at their homelike gallery space in Helsinki, as well as online. During 3daysofdesign, Lokal collaborates with The Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark to present an exhibition featuring a group of Finnish artists and makers working at the intersection of fine art and functionality.
