KunstIndustrien goes back to the 1940’s, when it was merely a small Catholic bookstore in Bredgade 67 in Copenhagen, selling books to the catholic churches. Located just opposite of then Kunstindustrimuseet - today called Designmuseum Denmark - inspired the owners to the name of the company. At some point, when books for churches no longer was in high demand KunstIndustrien decided to give up the bookstore and focus on making quality candles for churches, restaurants and local "Copenhagerners". For many years the candles where crafted in the back of the store at night and sold from the store during the daytime the next day. Today KunstIndustrien still use the same original recipe from then and are still known for their quality craftmanship.
During 3 Days of Design KunstIndustrien is looking forward to presenting their signature and unique handcrafted wax altar candles in an elegant and "hyggelig" atmosphere at the Odd Fellow Palæ in Bredgade - a location close to their heart and very close to where it all began back in the 1940's.
