The French Embassy in Denmark is located in the Thott Palace, a remarkable 17th century historical building on Kongens Nytorv, in the heart of Copenhagen. The palace has housed the embassy for a century, and has since its origins been a symbol of the strong ties between France and Denmark. All year round, the Embassy opens its doors to the public on the occasion of various cultural events (exhibitions, conferences, concerts), and has showcased French designers as part of 3daysofdesign every year since the festival began. Institut français is the French cultural center in Denmark, and also functions as the French Embassy's cultural department. The institute's mission is to promote French culture, language and ideas to the Danish public.

During 3daysofdesign, the French Embassy opens its historical reception rooms to showcase pieces by designers from some of France's top design schools (grouped together within the Campus MoMaDe), as well as French designer Arnaud Lapierre's "Rondin", an elegant bench specially commissionned by the French ministry of culture, and a set of remarkable tapestries from the Manufactures d'Aubusson. The exhibition is conceived in partnership with Mobilier National, a major French cultural institution dating back to the 17th century whose mission is to conserve the French state's unique furniture and objects collections. Mobilier National also plays a major role in supporting and promoting young French creators and contemporary design abroad.

Meisterwerke, creators of fine woven art and interior accessories, express their passion for art and textiles through the crafting of unique and bespoke objets de désire. Each limited piece is meticulously designed, woven, and embroidered, drawing from the rich tradition of Flemish craftsmanship and innovation. Embracing the ethos of slow living, they offer art, functionality, and design that enriches every interior in a distinctive and artistic manner. Their fine woven art is rooted in the nearly forgotten weaving technique of jacquard tapestry, woven in a Flemish weaving atelier.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2023, over 250 brands exhibited at the festival, where visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, networking events, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly during the second week of June from Wednesday to Friday. In 2024 the festival will be held from 12 - 14 June.
