Embassy of France
Cover image missing

The French Embassy in Denmark is located in the Thott Palace, a remarkable 17th century historical building on Kongens Nytorv, in the heart of Copenhagen. The palace has housed the embassy for a century, and has since its origins been a symbol of the strong ties between France and Denmark. All year round, the Embassy opens its doors to the public on the occasion of various cultural events (exhibitions, conferences, concerts), and has showcased French designers as part of 3daysofdesign every year since the festival began. Institut français is the French cultural center in Denmark, and also functions as the French Embassy's cultural department. The institute's mission is to promote French culture, language and ideas to the Danish public.

During 3daysofdesign, the French Embassy in Denmark opens its beautiful historical reception rooms and invites you to immerse yourself into the dynamism and diversity of the new French design scene. The central piece of the exhibition is Arnaud Lapierre’s elegant bench "Rondin", prototyped by Le Mobilier National. It also features a large selection of pieces (furniture, textiles, tableware) created by young designers from some of France’s top design schools, grouped within the "Campus Mode Métiers d'Art & Design". A set of delicate ceramics from Manufacture nationale de Sèvres and Victor Cadène’s remarkable tapestry "Capriccio" from Manufacture Robert Four complete the ensemble. Registration via Billetto is mandatory: https://bit.ly/3wj0mei

Marie Graff is the owner and creative soul behind the Danish design company Kodanska. Kodanska – translating to ’Copenhagen Street’ from Czech to Danish – is the name of the street in the heart of Prague where Marie lived with her family for four years. Inspired by her life in Prague and her roots back in Denmark, Marie chose the name ’Kodanska’ as a good way to tell her personal story. This is the core stone of all Kodanska design as it hides small personal stories, that makes the designs unique and gives it a very special meaning. Marie focus on shapes, colours, the quality of the process of handmade work and the aesthetics of the final result. Discover and enjoy their unique handmade collections.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2023, over 250 brands exhibited at the festival, where visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, networking events, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly during the second week of June from Wednesday to Friday. In 2025 the festival will be held from 4 - 6 June.
