Ukraine House in Denmark is a Ukrainian cultural diplomacy institution with a mission to deepen Ukrainian—Danish cooperation in the field of culture and creative industries for sustainable peace in Europe. Located in the Gammel Dok in the centre of Copenhagen, since 2023 Ukraine House hosted more than 10.000 guests, held 10 exhibitions of Ukrainian contemporary art, architecture, design, photography, organised more than 100 dialogues, panel discussions, lectures, and presentations, and integrated Ukrainian content into leading Danish cultural platforms, such as the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, Copenhagen Architecture Festival, Kulturnatten, Copenhagen Photography Festival, and 3daysofdesign.
Ukrainian design nowadays is a response to reality—where materials define possibilities. In a time of upheaval, designers and artisans work with what is available: natural resources, traditional crafts, and recycled materials. The exhibition 'Material Resistance: Ukrainian Design in Action' explores how matter takes shape, transforming raw materials into contemporary design objects. Much like matter resisting pressure and destruction, Ukrainian design today is shaped by resilience, and every material becomes much more than just a resource—it carries cultural identity and ability to withstand external forces. This is a story of resistance, that is not just about endurance but also about transformation.
