ØDELAND is a material and design project that transforms overlooked waste streams into new aesthetic possibilities. Based on high–fired ceramic landfill waste such as discarded toilets and sinks, ØDELAND works to rethink value, resources, and material cycles. Using sanitary waste, granite dust from quarrying, and pharmaceutical glass, ØDELAND is developing new ceramic expressions in which waste becomes identity, form, and narrative.
ØDELAND presents a large–scale composition of bowls situated at the intersection of art and design. The installation offers a contemporary interpretation of the traditional platter—a hybrid between the functional object and the artwork. Each piece is crafted from different clay bodies and waste–based glazes. The work is created collaboratively by three independent ceramicists who share knowledge, develop ideas together, and inspire one another throughout the process. Through this collective approach, ØDELAND celebrates the creative potential of collaboration. Common Bowl functions as a library of tactile and visually complex ceramic qualities, unfolding the aesthetic richness of transforming waste into high–end artistic objects.
