Holder, blends the lines between an editorial platform, a design store and a gallery showcasing a selection of curated furniture and art–led objects for everyday use dedicated to contemporary and collectible design from Latin American designers. They present pieces that exude a strong sense of place, reflecting the geography, society, and unique cultural identity of Latin America. Some of the concepts you'll find in their selection are local and slow production, local materials and techniques, and the use of local labor and industry. Holder's mission is to promote Latin American culture by shortening the geographical gap between Latin America and EU becoming a bridge where creativity and collaboration come together.
Holder will exhibit two Latin American design pieces from the 1970s, part of the MoMA collection and recently showcased in Crafting Modernity: Design in Latin America, 1940–1980: the Plaka Chair (Argentina, 1973) by Ricardo Blanco and the Puzzle Chair (Chile, 1975) by Juan Ignacio Baixas. Archival material will be included, along with a discussion on the significance of the MoMA exhibition for Latin American design. Both chairs will be on display and available for purchase. Additionally, Holder will present works by contemporary designers from its catalogue, complemented by talks and individual presentations during 3daysofdesign.
