Established in 2007, DesignByThem was founded by industrial designers Sarah Gibson and Nicholas Karlovasitis. Based in Australia, the company is run by designers who are dedicated to creating and producing unique products for design professionals and enthusiasts alike. DBT products are designed by Australian designers, developed in–house by the DesignByThem team and produced worldwide. The brand’s growing curated collection of furniture, accessories and lighting is characterised by its unique Australian perspective, timeless aesthetic and distinct playfulness. DesignByThem products can be seen in offices, universities, restaurants, hotels, libraries, airports and homes worldwide.

From Sydney to Copenhagen, DesignByThem celebrates 18 years of original Australian design, in an exhibition far from home. A showcase of forms, materiality and design languages, EXPANSE invites visitors to wander through a progression of new and core collections. Making a 3daysofdesign debut at Galleri Susanne Ottesen, DesignByThem will be exhibiting new and core works by a stellar cohort of independent Australian designers, accompanied by a dedicated art curation by Galleri Susanne Ottesen.

Founded in 2015 by designers Hiroyuki Nagatomi and Chizu Nara, the company creates understated designs that highlight the textures and natural beauty of brass, glass, ceramic and traditional Japanese washi paper. Each lamp is handcrafted in Japan by skilled artisans. Supporting Japanese craftsmanship and the artisans who keep these traditions alive has been central to New Light Pottery’s mission from the very beginning. Keeping production in Japan also allows for minor adjustments, special orders and unique finishes.

Trained as an architect, Finn Juhl approached furniture as an artistic discipline rather than a purely functional task. His work challenged established ideas of construction and use, introducing sculptural forms and a clear sense of proportion that helped shape Danish modernism. For more than two decades, House of Finn Juhl has held the exclusive rights to revive and produce Finn Juhl’s furniture designs, working to preserve the intent and principles behind his work—an approach that continues to resonate across generations.

Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt creates exclusive bespoke lighting pieces. Working with plexiglass and brass, she develops lamps shaped by a close dialogue between colour, transparency, and form. Layered hues and shifting light create depth and visual presence, while patinated brass adds a warmer, tactile tone. Each lamp is a sculptural object that brings a composed architectural presence to a space. She also creates larger installations by grouping multiple lamps. Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt collaborates with Nilufar Gallery in Milan and designs for Gubi.
