Gemla is a contemporary furniture maker—and always has been. Yet at the same time, they verge on being an anachronism. Always have. The company was founded in 1861, specialising in steam–bent furniture. It’s steam that makes bentwood furniture so exceptionally durable, yet graceful. On the factory floor, guided by the knowledge of craft, the brand meets patience, care and sustainability, passed down through generations. It’s no coincidence that its pieces are in high demand for hotels and restaurants—settings that require equal parts aesthetics and durability.
During 3daysofdesign will Scandinavian Design on the Move show a curated exhibition presenting contemporary Nordic creativity through products and a featured talk at the Residence of the ambassador of Finland in Copenhagen. The exhibition consists of a series of displays, where participating brands not only express their individual identities but also collaborate to create shared installations. Featured designers and brands include Mifuko, Finarte, Lapuan Kankurit, Andrea Tsang, Forming Functions, Gemla, Hyfer Objects, G.A.D. & Vroom Furniture. Do not miss the Scandinavian Design Embassy in a fantastic setting.
