Basalto Collective is a platform that fosters a dialogue between contemporary design, traditional craftsmanship, and cultural heritage. Transcending borders, it acts as a conduit for the world to experience the exquisite craftsmanship of Mexico through the lens of design. A space that offers a curated selection of top–tier contemporary design items, accompanied by their exclusive stories, aimed at bringing awareness to Mexico’s cultural origins and vibrant design scene. Its collection is a harmonious blend of materials, textures, and forms, meticulously assembled from the distinctive works of avant–garde designers.

Basalto Collective presents Native Matter at the second edition of DESIGN DIALOGUE by Ark Journal during 3daysofdesign. The exhibition is a curatorial reflection on origin, identity, and transformation through form, showcasing contemporary Mexican design. Each piece explores how geography and heritage are embedded in process—where tradition evolves into new expressions of function and meaning. Featuring Ayres, Comité de Proyectos, Federico Stefanovich, José Bermúdez, Peca, Sebastián Ángeles, Siete Studio, and Studio H. Fernández, the show reflects a vibrant cross–section of Mexico’s design culture. Throughout the exhibition, Basalto Collective will host a series of activations to foster dialogue on craftsmanship and contemporary design.

MANU builds object-to-human relationships. Their objects are all ‘characters’ to live alongside — not bought and sold, but adopted. Working across waste streams, the material becomes both the starting point and the guide, allowing its limitations to shape the design of each object. They craft objects from PET bottles, lemon peels, or sand — depending on what’s available around them. MANU believes this philosophy can help us rediscover the value of finite raw materials, encouraging more respect and care for the objects we live with.
