AOT STUDIO

AOT is a small family–run design company based in Copenhagen. Driven by challenging materials, they aim to liberate these materials from what is expected of them. Inventing new hand–made processes is a core element of their practice where doing things the conventionally 'wrong' way, has proved to be ideal for creating things that are both original and classic. Things that are easy to read yet easy on the eye! AOT is both a design studio and a production house and everything they produce is made in Denmark — either in–house or with carefully sourced producers. This is a key part of AOT, as it enables their insistence and audacity to create things that are hand-made in Denmark and still affordable.

As a result of a natural urge to create, the tender birth of AOT happened 'by accident' four years ago, as the founders were designing things for their own home. During 3daysofdesign, AOT will open the doors to their private home, where they will launch and showcase a new collection of hand–made lamps. Running a business as a family makes everything blend together and 3daysofdesign will be no exception to this. The new collection of hand–made lamps are made entirely from recycled plastic and will include a table lamp, pendant light, a chandelier among other. The lamp collection will be curated alongside things from their general assortment, one–off pieces and the interior of their private home.

In differential geometry, the Grassmann product—represented by a wedge—constructs higher–dimensional objects through the addition of existing dimensions. WEDGE channels this mathematical operation as both metaphor and method. The studio explores the space between abstraction and matter, using technologies like binder jet 3D printing, LIDAR scanning, and computational modelling to redefine how materials behave and how forms emerge. Through recursive design systems and material experimentation, Wedge builds contemporary furniture and spatial objects that encode process, perception, and precision.
