Fundamental Values
During 3daysofdesign, GamFratesi exhibited at Thorvaldsens Museum with an installation revolving around the beauty of natural materials and the importance of authenticity in design.
What are your thoughts on this year's theme, KEEP IT REAL?
We believe that this year’s theme, Keep It Real, is not only closely connected to what we do, but also resonates deeply with our core values in design. For us, keeping it real means embracing honesty in the use of materials and staying true to the original design intent. It’s about creating work with authenticity and integrity—projects that are grounded in meaningful ideas and built to remain relevant and significant over time.
What does “keeping it real” mean to you personally?
For us, Keep It Real is not just a theme for the exhibition—it’s a fundamental value we apply to our design practice as a whole. It reflects a principle we truly believe in: maintaining a sense of reality and honesty throughout the design process. This means working with authenticity, respecting the materials, and staying true to the essence of an idea. It’s a way of designing that ensures our work remains meaningful, both now and in the future.
This year's theme explores what makes us unique as creators. What do you think sets GamFratesi apart from the crowd?
In our exhibition, we are working with a material as our starting point. Approaching a material creatively means giving the project a deeper dimension—one that seeks to convey both the historical and physical reality of that material. It’s about transforming this into a meaningful experience, not only in terms of the product itself, but also for those visiting the installation.
What do you think the world needs more of—and less of?
The issue isn’t about creating more or less—it’s about creating well. We believe that when something is done with care and quality, it lasts. It carries value overtime, both because it becomes a fundamental part of the sustainable meaning of the object, and because it embodies a human dimension—a sense of craftsmanship that is passed down through generations. This focus on quality and meaning is what leads to lasting evolution in design. It’s a beautiful way to preserve value, not only in the objects we create but in the culture and thinking we pass on to future generations.
