Nicolai Larsen, founder of Deco Nico and a specialist in spatial design and styling, shares his top recommendations for the upcoming 3daysofdesign 2024.

Here are Nicolai Larsens's top three recommendations to explore during 3daysofdesign 2024:

"I’m particularly thrilled about the opportunity to delve into the districts that make up this year's 3daysofdesign. I can’t wait to stroll through the dynamic city center, then venture to Refshaleøen to explore innovative materials and designs with a keen focus on sustainability. Furthermore, I'm excited to see how familiar brands interpret this year's theme of DARE TO DREAM.

+Halle: This brand holds a special place in my heart for its ingenious approach to functional design. I find inspiration in how they reshape the ambiance of spaces and redefine our interactions within them. Their skillful infusion of color and character into communal areas is exciting and new.

Design / Dialogue: Curated by Ark Journal, this exhibition promises to be a captivating fusion of art, design, architecture, and culture. I'm particularly excited about the inclusion of CC-Tapis, a rug brand that exudes coolness. The exhibition features a curated selection of other designers from around the globe, each specializing in their own product group.

Possi: This exhibition challenges conventional perspectives on kitchen design, presenting a compelling vision of the kitchen as the center of any space. I'm intrigued by their exploration of how people gather and interact in this area, and I can't wait to catch a glimpse of what the future of kitchen design might hold."

POSSI is a modular furniture system which functions as a kitchen, shelving or storage. The core of POSSI is a flexible framework designed to enable the individual to form variable arrangements by easy assemblage. POSSI leaves behind the idea of the kitchen as a built-in, systematic and static feature mounted into architecture, to approach the idea of the kitchen as a flexible and versatile feature of your interior. Simple and solid joints allow for the system to be easily taken apart, moved and rebuilt into initial or new arrangements. POSSI’s modularity allows for the system to be rearranged and upgraded with new features and technology anytime. This organic structure makes a furniture system with long longevity.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia and Northern Europe.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2024, over 400 brands exhibited at the festival, where over 45.000 visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, product launches, networking, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly in showrooms and galleries during June, Wednesday to Friday. In 2025 the festival will be held from 18 — 20 June 2025.

Pack your bags, book a hotel and come to Copenhagen! 3daysofdesign is open to the general public and everyone is invited to visit the showrooms, exhibitions, workshops and design talks. All events are free of charge.
