+Halle exists to develop a different type of furniture, designed to make a difference to people’s daily lives, helping them focus, work, and relax in new ways. Furniture shaped by human behaviour is furniture shaped by those who use it. The more minds involved, the more evolved the design.

This year during 3daysofdesign +Halle® will display a large selection of new products designed by Spacon, Boris Berlin Design, Nick Ross and Form Us With Love. Making furniture that can meet the needs of public spaces today means creating mindspace for designers, scientists and entrepreneurs with something new to say on the matter. Tools for Everyday Life is a project showcasing the community of practice surrounding the BA Furniture and Product Design programme at Northumbria University. This community has evolved through a dialogical approach to teaching and learning, where academic and technical staff act as facilitators in an ongoing process of shared inquiry with students. The project sets design briefs to create everyday objects that bring joy in use, proposing artefacts that recognise and celebrate the innumerable skilled actions that shape daily life. The aim is to draw inspiration from materials and processes that not only define the objects people interact with but also shape the relationship with the surrounding environment.
