SAIKAIHOP, by Saikai Europe, traces its origins to the Japanese town of Hasami, where the history of porcelain production and innovation spans more than 400 years. As a subsidiary of ceramics trading company Saikai Toki, Saikai Europe’s operations centre on a lineup of original brands merging contemporary design with Hasami’s manufacturing expertise. Jeroen De Ruddere is a Belgian designer creating sculptural lighting objects rooted in material, proportion and emotional presence. Each piece begins with an idea, a tension that needs to be felt, and is guided by a deep respect for sustainable materials, form and timeless simplicity. Drawing inspiration from nature, architecture and human sensibility, his designs balance strength and softness. Solid wood bases in oak, walnut or mahogany are combined with carefully selected textiles, resulting in objects that feel both architectural and sculptural.
