SAIKAIHOP, by Saikai Europe, traces its origins to the Japanese town of Hasami, where the history of porcelain production and innovation spans more than 400 years. As a subsidiary of ceramics trading company Saikai Toki, Saikai Europe’s operations centre on a lineup of original brands merging contemporary design with Hasami’s manufacturing expertise. In addition to its in–house collections, Saikai Europe provides distribution services in the European market, working closely with Japanese brands and makers dedicated to quality, craftsmanship and the creation of timeless wares. New Light Pottery is a lighting manufacturer based in the ancient former Japanese capital of Nara. Founded in 2015 by designers Hiroyuki Nagatomi and Chizu Nara, the company creates understated designs that highlight the textures and natural beauty of brass, glass, ceramic and traditional Japanese washi paper. Each lamp is handcrafted in Japan by skilled artisans. Supporting Japanese craftsmanship and the artisans who keep these traditions alive has been central to New Light Pottery’s mission from the very beginning. Keeping production in Japan also allows for minor adjustments, special orders and unique finishes.
