What do we choose to overlook, and what does that cost us? In a world where landfills are overflowing, and oceans bear the burden of the debris we discard, waste is no longer out of sight, nor out of mind. This session asks a crucial question: in the face of excess, does the world really need another design? With a headline talk by Natsai Audrey Chieza, a Zimbabwe–born British designer, the “Waste“ session explores the design industry’s role in confronting overproduction, rethinking materials, and redefining value. Challenging us to consider whether creating less might, in fact, lead to more meaningful designs.
