The story of sog begins in the world of bespoke furniture in Japan, where its creators listened to countless stories—the single line drawn by an architect, the quiet wish of a user. To answer each one, the brand's artisans sculpted wood, tailored fabrics, and bent metal. The myriad forms born and then vanished in this process became what they call the “memories of design.” From this vast accumulation of memories and experience, “sog” was born: a brand that carves out the "So” (素)—the elemental form destined to become the standard of the future.

For its international debut, sog will unveil its collection at the prestigious Ark Journal venue during 3daysofdesign. This momentous occasion marks the brand’s first journey beyond the borders of Japan, bringing its unique philosophy to the global stage. Ark Journal's DESIGN / DIALOGUE 2026 is set to unfold within a new and storied location—one of Copenhagen’s most iconic architectural landmarks. Situated in the heart of the city, Den Frie is a historic wooden exhibition hall with a legacy spanning over 125 years. sog eagerly awaits the opportunity to unveil its collection to the world. It is a momentous occasion for the brand to introduce its unique philosophy and craftsmanship within such an extraordinary and historic setting.

You’re not like everyone else. Neither are we. You won’t find us in every home, in every store, or in every office. We’re among the few Norwegian furniture manufacturers who still design and craft our furniture at our own factory. We’ve been doing that since the 40s. And we’ll continue to do so, right here in Sykkylven, the country’s furniture capital. We make products built to last. In fact, no one should want or need to throw away an LK Hjelle product. That’s our vision. And it ensures that we always double-check that the screws are tight, that we choose the best suppliers, and that we make it easy for our customers to have their furniture repaired, so they get renewed life and can bring joy to many, many, many…
