From the Ocean's Point of View
Sometimes waste drifts beneath the surface
During a visit to the World Expo 2025 held in Osaka, we were struck by a compelling concept at the Portuguese Pavilion. The building was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, crafted with recycled fishing nets and suspended ropes to echo the fluidity of ocean waves. Inside was a visually and emotionally evocative video featuring mesmerising underwater footage with a message from the ocean’s perspective that’s quite profound — with an effect that lingers long after it ends.
To give you a preview, we created this short video clip. To experience their thought–provoking message in its entirety, our festival visitors are welcome to view the full version of the video by FOA Oceano Azul Foundation at the Portuguese Embassy in Copenhagen during 3daysofdesign this June.
