10 Years of 3daysofdesign

This June, we are thrilled to welcome our global community to the 10th anniversary edition of 3daysofdesign. The forthcoming festival marks an important milestone in our story as well as the stories of all those who have joined us along the way.

We could not have reached this moment were it not for our exhibitors—a community of incredible brands we have been fortunate to collaborate with for a decade. It has been an honour to support our exhibiting brands via our festival; to provide the opportunity to showcase their work to industry professionals and design lovers alike who travel from far and wide to attend 3daysofdesign. We are constantly amazed by the collaborative spirit and shared passion for design that makes our exhibitor community thrive. Whilst each brand is unique and independent, they all share values of quality, craft and innovation. We take great pleasure seeing our exhibitors helping one another along the way, as each strives to create projects that are meaningful and positive; that will improve the lives of the people who encounter them.

As facilitators and supporters of our exhibitors’ work, it is a joy to see the recognition and accolades our exhibitors receive from industry experts, buyers and the media. We believe in their talent and our primary purpose is to expose this talent to an engaged and enthusiastic design audience. During the last 10 years, 3daysofdesign has brought new names into the spotlight through its democratic, non-profit programming structure, and through our teams’ passionate and personal support for their work. Along with highlighting emerging talent, our festival has also hosted some of the world’s most revered design houses. During the last 10 years we have seen significant industry players support emerging talent, and visa versa. The programme, whilst highly curated, aims for diversity and balance to further the industry at large.

Whilst 3daysofdesign could not exist without exhibitors, it would hardly be a festival without guests. Each year we have been overwhelmed by the number of visitors attending from all over the world. The inclusive, free and public festival sees industry professionals, media and design loving individuals mingling together on the streets of Copenhagen. Old friends meet and new friends are found. All the hard work is worth it when our beloved city comes alive with thousands of smiling faces, inspired eyes and joyful chatter—an atmosphere of inspiration and connection brought about by a shared love for design.

In order for 3daysofdesign to support its exhibitors, we gratefully accept the support of our partners and our press network. These wonderful relationships are built on the same shared passion for design as the rest of our community, which often transforms professional connections into personal ones. Together we have grown 3daysofdesign from its modest beginnings in 2013 to an important event in the global design calendar. Beyond this, together we have built an incredible and supportive design community who come together each year to be inspired, to share ideas and catch up.

This June, we are both humbled and excited to celebrate 10 years of 3daysofdesign. We would like to take the opportunity to thank every single person who has supported the festival and our exhibitors throughout the last decade. There are thousands upon thousands to thank. It has been an enormous group effort and everyone’s contribution has made a difference—has pushed the design industry further, added beauty and functionality to daily life, inspired someone somewhere in the world, and sparked new connections.

Thank you, everyone, it’s been a pleasure collaborating with you for the past 10 years and we look forward to another decade to come.

Since its inception in 2013, Signe Byrdal Terenziani has facilitated the growth of the design community in her role as Managing Director. It all began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia.

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2023, over 250 brands exhibited at the festival, where visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, networking events, etc.

3daysofdesign takes place every year in Copenhagen mainly during the second week of June from Wednesday to Friday. In 2024 the festival will be held from 12 - 14 June.
