Furniture Programme is an integral part of the Interior Architecture Major of the Department of Architecture at Aalto University in Finland. On top of spatial design studies, with experimental courses on both BA and MA levels, and outstanding workshop facilities, students explore hands–on the diverse creative and conceptual approaches to furniture and product design practice.

The Sound of Material will explore ideas centred on craftsmanship, techniques and processes. The group exhibition will be focusing on both traditional handwork and innovative practices, the works presented invite and encourage us to engage with them. With this, the exhibition asks us to think about the transformative qualities of the materials present, the intricacy or simplicity of the techniques on display, and to appreciate of the power of the objects present in our lives. Bringing together a dynamic group of designers and makers who work with ceramics, textiles, lighting, furniture, glasswork, paper and more, the exhibition will be curated by Natalia Sánchez.
