Furniture ought to make room for people. That has been the philosophy since 1942, when FDB Møbler was founded, by architect Børge Mogensen. Many new designers have since entered the fold, but the foundational principles remain the same: to create beautiful, functional and exceptionally crafted furniture that makes room for everyday living at home. FDB Møbler is internationally known as a frontrunner of Danish design. It’s a story of classic pieces to be passed down from generation to generation. Regardless of whether they are talking about iconic pieces or new, innovative designs, the goal is the same: To have the veritable quality of life that was envisioned when the first pieces of furniture emerged in 1942.

A Danish design brand, and concept store founded in 1953 in the heart of Copenhagen by Hagbarth Skjalm Petersen and his spouse Lisbeth Westergaard. A center for home interior and lifestyle items designed to inspire to an aesthetic and more sustainable lifestyle. The original design philosophy of H. Skjalm P. is still focusing on sustainable production and natural materials, notably the organic GOTS certified textiles. The H. Skjalm P. collection includes a wide range of design in brass, in stainless steel, ceramics and glass, as well as textiles in 100% GOTS certified organic cotton. Eikund was established spring of 2016, and since then they have gathered the best of Norwegian furniture design from the 1950s and 60s under one brand. This is a result of a treasure hunt that gives old icons from their design legacy new life. The collection of Norwegian mid-century design features iconic works by renowned masters such as Fredrik A. Kayser, Sigurd Resell and Torbjørn Bekken. Quality requirements for high-end furniture makes Eikund both sustainable and viable; They would rather produce furniture designed to last, than something short lived. Every single product from them can be described as Nordic modernism at its best! Visit them to see their new products in a mix with the current lineup.

Graduate designer Anke Neumann makes handmade paper glow in an unusual way. In her workshop, she makes large–format papers, incorporating light–conducting fibres. Similar to veins, these run through the paper surface and also form a kind of framework that contributes to the stability of the form. LED light is guided through the fibres and emitted laterally outwards in the paper layer. Together with the material aesthetics and design language, the light papers combine sculpture, luminaire and unique piece. They are not just objects that attract a lot of attention due to their shape. They are capable of enchanting a room, bathing it in poetic light.

Roosa Ryhänen is a Helsinki—based designer whose work blends industrial and product design, creating objects that exist at the intersection of function and art. Ryhänen favours local production and material sourcing, using Finnish birch and supporting local artisans to minimise environmental impact. Ryhänen’s mindset in design production is centred on made–to–order, minimising waste by producing only what is needed and reducing excess inventory. Her work aims to create timeless, collectible designs that not only serve a functional purpose but also challenge conventional design.
