Throughout history, tools have been crucial to humanity’s ability to survive and innovate, from primitive stone tools to advanced machinery, tools have been key to shaping the world. VÆRKTØJ is an exhibition format that aims to communicate and demonstrate how the identities of designers are largely shaped by the tools they use; as tools not only drive the development of ideas and creative processes but also leave a distinct mark on the final product.

It’s about listening to people’s needs and involving them in creating future solutions. At Kolding School of Design, creative people from all over the world come together to do just that—through craftsmanship, artistic expression, and research. The teaching is based on practical experience, the latest knowledge, and close collaboration with the outside world.

Swedese is a classic Swedish furniture producer with a strong anchor in both the public and domestic domain. Swedese's ideals are the same today as they have been for the past 80 years. These are to create beautiful furniture for the future, which build on the foundations of Scandinavian modern traditions, designed by forward–looking designers who share in the timeless ideals of architecture. Swedese was founded in 1945 by the two brothers Yngve and Jerker Ekström and Bertil Sjöqvist, under the company name ESE Möbler. The headquarters are located at Vaggeryd, in Sweden, together with one of the factories. The second factory is located in Äng, a small village outside Nässjö, Sweden.
