United by a focus on material awareness, production quality, and design integrity, the Objects of Desire exhibition presents contemporary practices developed through considered processes and skilled execution. This exhibition establishes a platform which convenes a selected group of international designers and makers working beyond mass production. Designers explore form, technique, and detail through processes informed by material properties and production methods. The exhibited objects are the result of in-depth material research, technical expertise, and time–intensive development.

Lapalma’s story began over 40 years ago in Padua, Italy, rooted in a heritage of craftsmanship. As the company evolved from artisan workshop to industry, the spirit of craft remained central, enriched through collaborations with international designers. Lapalma creates furniture defined by durability and timeless design. Sustainability rhymes with quality, with every stage of production carefully controlled in-house and largely powered by solar and geothermal energy, while working exclusively with local suppliers. Established in 2007, Design By Them was founded by industrial designers Sarah Gibson and Nicholas Karlovasitis. Based in Australia, the company is run by designers who are dedicated to creating and producing unique products for design professionals and enthusiasts alike. DBT products are designed by Australian designers, developed in–house by the Design By Them team and produced worldwide. The brand’s growing curated collection of furniture, accessories and lighting is characterised by its unique Australian perspective, timeless aesthetic and distinct playfulness. Design By Them products can be seen in offices, universities, restaurants, hotels, libraries, airports and homes worldwide.

Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt creates exclusive bespoke lighting pieces. Working with plexiglass and brass, she develops lamps shaped by a close dialogue between colour, transparency, and form. Layered hues and shifting light create depth and visual presence, while patinated brass adds a warmer, tactile tone. Each lamp is a sculptural object that brings a composed architectural presence to a space. She also creates larger installations by grouping multiple lamps. Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt collaborates with Nilufar Gallery in Milan and designs for Gubi.
