David Colwell Design is a practice focused on the future—sustainable, practical, and innovative. The sustainable production of seating is at the core of our mission. Aesthetic considerations do not come first; instead, design decisions are guided by how the product performs. Flexibility is key to the exceptional comfort of our seating, reminding us of the importance of flexibility in both design and function. Sawn lengths of local green ash, which naturally season as part of the process, are steam–bent and cured. The components are then joined using innovative tubular rivets, designed to complement the natural engineering potential of the wood itself. The process is efficient and enjoyable, and the supply chain is kept deliberately short.
