Based in India, the studio is rooted in ancient wisdom, where sustainability and care are integral to everyday living. Working closely with local artisans and locally sourced wood, the furniture draws from South Asian traditions of sitting and spatial setting. Naturally seasoned, aged trees—crafted without nails or screws—form the core language of the work. A life–centred approach ensures no harmful disruptors enter the environment, protecting everyone from maker to end user. Continually pushing the boundaries of furniture typology, the studio explores Indian minimalism while revisiting traditional skills through a contemporary lens, creating pieces that hold space and life in equal measure.

The story of each object begins with an idea and evolves through sketches and prototypes into a well–considered result. Working exclusively with solid hardwoods, ykoon employs traditional joinery techniques, reflecting a deep respect for craftsmanship. Founded in 2022, TOMOMI YOKOYAMA DESIGN is led by Japanese designer Tomomi Yokoyama. After years of honing her craft in the watchmaking industry, she has brought her expertise to the world of fashion design. This debut international exhibition marks a bold new chapter for the studio, centred on the theme of "Global Dialogue and Co–creation." By harmonising two different cultures and perspectives, Yokoyama aims to create designs that celebrate and respect cultural diversity.
