Gudbrandsdalens Uldvarefabrik (GU) is a Norwegian textile manufacturer based in Lillehammer, known for its craftsmanship, material expertise, and timeless design. Rooted in Norwegian nature and tradition, GU develops upholstery textiles that combine aesthetics, durability, and sustainability. All production takes place locally, with every stage—from spinning to weaving and finishing—carried out under one roof. This ensures full control over quality, traceability, and responsible production. Elvang creates responsibly produced textiles which combine timeless Nordic design with exquisite Peruvian craftsmanship. Its story is one of ethics, integrity and respect. It began in 2002, when the founders Tina and Lasse Elvang learned about the qualities of alpaca wool during a backpacking trip to Peru. Today the textiles are sold worldwide, and their social and environmental commitment remains unchanged. Making responsible choices lies at the heart of Elvang. This has led to the highest level of recognition within the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) as a Guaranteed Member and participation in the UN Global Compact Initiative, ensuring that their supply chains and business model put people, the planet and animals first.
