Bruun Rasmussen
Bruun Rasmussen is a Danish auction house founded in 1948. Today, the company is owned by the British auction house Bonhams – one of the world's leading and oldest auction houses with a large network of offices and departments all over the world. Bruun Rasmussen has a long history of selling design and decorative art from the Golden Age period from 1920 and up to the present day. With leading design specialists in “Danish modern” from the mid 20th century, the auction house ensures the most credible valuations of design pieces. Furniture classics, modern design, lighting, and decorative art by all the most skilled and famous designers are regular guests at their auctions, year after year.
The exhibition “Danish Living – Design in Transition” puts the spotlight on a special way of furnishing and decorating a home in the end of the 1960’s. The tone veered towards a simple, solid look, with the focus on long-lasting furniture of a high level of craftsmanship and quality. Natural hues formed the colour palette, the light Scandinavian woods were favoured, and ceramics and textile art became an important part of the interior. Much of the preferred pieces had been designed many years earlier in the post-war years, but the items were handpicked based on the new trend-setting aesthetics. The mindset of the late 1960s is in keeping with our interior preferences today. All exhibited items will be up for auction in mid-June.
