BEFORE VINTAGE FURNITURE is a Japanese furniture brand based in Hokkaido, Japan, creating furniture from valuable wood that has lost its place in the market due to irregular grain, color variations, or other characteristics often overlooked by conventional standards. Through traditional Japanese joinery, architectural thinking, and careful craftsmanship, these materials are given a new purpose and a longer future. Each piece is individually numbered, reflecting the belief that furniture gains character and value as it ages alongside its owner. The story of sog begins in the world of bespoke furniture in Japan, where its creators listened to countless stories—the single line drawn by an architect, the quiet wish of a user. To answer each one, the brand's artisans sculpted wood, tailored fabrics, and bent metal. The myriad forms born and then vanished in this process became what they call the “memories of design.” From this vast accumulation of memories and experience, “sog” was born: a brand that carves out the "So” (素)—the elemental form destined to become the standard of the future.

ReCraft Design Studio is a Copenhagen-based practice working with reclaimed materials, including demolition waste and production offcuts, to create architectural elements and spatial interventions. Through hands-on experimentation and material research, the studio explores how existing resources can be reintroduced into contemporary design. Focusing on irregular and overlooked materials, ReCraft reveals the inherent qualities of what is already in circulation, extending its life while opening up new possibilities for use. Rather than concealing a materials history, the studio embraces it, allowing surfaces and traces of previous lives to inform new architectural applications.
