Celebrating dreamers and doers...

It's the start of the new year and we're so excited about all the ideas and events we're already planning for our festival this summer from 12 - 14 June.

Insights to shining star Bonnie Hvillum

Bonnie Hvillum believes that everything we encounter has some kind of materiality, which is why her starting point is the reuse, recycling and rethinking of materials. Founder of Natural Material Studio, Hvillum's primarily focus is on people and points of interaction - touch, feelings and senses. After exhibiting her work during 3daysofdesign 2023 at Refshaleøen, Hvillum went on to become the first winner of Dezeen's prestigious Bentley Lighthouse Award. A new award that recognises curious and courageous designers whose approach has a beneficial impact on society, the community and the environment. Boasting a roster of clients from Calvin Klein and Dinesen to Noma and Frama. Read our interview with the rising star here.

Even stronger focus on sustainability and new materials on Refshaleøen

Refshaleøen exemplifies our commitment to sustainability as a new district introduced last year. The district was dedicated to sustainable entrepreneurial endeavours and the pursuit of innovative material advancement. In fact, the initiative was such a success that we are making the district bigger and better with our community in 2024 exploring material intelligence, sustainability and circular economy.

Meet Ukurant – the platform that pushes the boundaries

Ukurant was also present at Refshaleøen during 3daysofdesign 2023. The platform Ukurant was created by young designers for young designers. It's a visibility opportunity for up-and-coming talents from around the globe who are unafraid to challenge assumptions. To push the boundaries of what's accepted and what's expected. And to gain traction in the design industry with their pioneering ideas. Ukurant will participate once again in 2024 at Refshaleøen, presenting cutting-edge work that embodies the company's creative ethos, which they shared with us in this interview here.

If you have a dream that became a design, we hope you'll sign up by February 1st to join us and share it with the world!
