Michael Anastassiades is a Cypriot-born, London-based designer whose practice encompasses product, spatial interventions and experimental works, often transcending the distinctions between different fields of creativity. Anastassiades’ practice contemplates both industrial production and artisan techniques. In doing so, it expands into a vivid, nuanced balance between improvisation and structure, control and intuition. With a career spanning more than 20 years, Anastassiades has conceived lights, furniture and objects characterised by a poetic yet rigorous interpretation of technology, materials and functions. His work draws inspiration from many sources, which he distills into pure, simple structures.

For 3daysofdesign 2023, Michael Anastassiades will be presenting several new collections of lighting, in conversation with a selection of important furniture pieces from Dansk Møbelkunst. The exhibition, 'Stilleben 2' will celebrate Anastassiades’ close relationship with the gallery as well as his admiration for Nordic modernist design. The dialogue of the exhibition takes place through a metaphysical lens, suggesting unconventional connections between the pieces and how they could have been used. The display is a silent narrative of imaginative scenarios, proposing a situation where owners may have just left the scene. The exhibition will be supported by Anker & Co, Michael Anastassiades’ long-standing partner in Scandinavia.

+Halle is the brand to turn to for a new take on furniture for the public realm. With an energetic and different approach to furniture design, +Halle challenges the industry’s status quo. Based on the mantra of making furniture with a purpose, the brand offers a sharply designed collection of previously unseen archetypes. Designs by Industrial Facility, Snøhetta, MSDS, Form Us With Love, Nick Ross and Raw Edges among others are born out of design conversations, behavioural analyses and critical discussions involving anthropologists, behaviour scientists and entrepreneurs, making each product a piece of modern resonance.

Ukurant celebrates experimental approaches to craft, material and tradition, lending young designers a platform to present their work and push the boundaries of the established design scene. In 2021 Ukurant won “Exhibition of the Year” during 3daysofdesign and in 2020 the exhibition 'Ukurant Objects' received recognition from The Danish Arts Foundation stating: “A power performance of an exhibition that can hopefully shake the dust off all of us – and give courage to step outside the neatly tuned paths that may be beautiful and safe but can go in circles: out into unknown terrain and into the future”.
