Founded in Copenhagen in 2006, Mater is a pioneering green-tech design brand with sustainability and circularity at its core. From the outset, the ambition was to inspire a global design audience and engage people in sustainable thinking. Mater use cutting-edge technology in production allowing them to transform waste materials into furniture. Through collaboration with well-established and new design talents, they create timeless designs in a sustainable and responsible way. Mater is continuously committed to finding and developing new waste materials and techniques that allow them to create more from less.

Each year, 100 billion tonnes of materials are used worldwide for producing consumer goods. Of this abstractly large amount, only 8,6% is recycled. This needs to change. Enter the unique room of Helligåndshuset - next to the Church of the Holyspirit - and experience how Mater paves the road for a new belief with the exhibition 'What a waste'. A belief where we do not regard waste as waste but look upon it as a way to the future. Learn how we, with the development of new technologies and cooperations with international companies, create beautiful design furniture out of waste to the benefit of the planet.
