Kvadrat was established in Denmark in 1968 and has deep roots in Scandinavia’s world-famous design tradition. A leader in design innovation, Kvadrat produces high-performance, design upholstery and curtain textiles, rugs and acoustic solutions for both commercial and residential interiors. The products reflect their commitment to colour, quality, simplicity and innovation. Kvadrat consistently push the aesthetic, technological and functional properties of textiles. In doing so, they collaborate with leading designers, architects and artists including: Patricia Urquiola, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Alfredo Häberli, Doshi Levien, Giulio Ridolfo, Peter Saville, Pipilotti Rist, Thomas Demand and Olafur Eliasson.

During 3daysofdesign Kvadrat will present ReThink. After six successful editions of Kvadrat Design Projects – Hallingdal 65, Divina, My Canvas, Really (2) and Knit! – the seventh edition reflects on the theme of sustainability and will focus on Kvadrat’s range of recycled and reused textiles. However, instead of Kvadrat’s textiles and materials being the subject of the project, this time they are the medium for expression, broadening the scope for the group of curators and 12 participating designers to explore the notion of sustainability within design.

It all began in 2013 as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn, a harbour area overlooking Copenhagen’s waterfront. Four Danish brands launched the event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. At that time, Copenhagen lacked a proper design festival, since the previous annual furniture fair at Bella Center closed down some years before.

Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavian

Each year since its inception, 3daysofdesign has grown in popularity exponentially. In 2023, over 250 brands exhibited at the festival, where visitors could choose from as many as 500 events to attend in various design districts across Copenhagen, such as design talks, networking events, etc.
